Production and repair of weapons and military equipment in Ukraine: The Ministry of Defence and British company BAE Systems signed Framework Agreement on Cooperation

Following the meeting of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with CEO, Charles Woodburn, and representatives of BAE Systems (multinational arms, security, and aerospace company based in London) regarding the opening of a BAE Systems representative office in Ukraine, Minister of Defence, Oleksii Reznikov, and CEO of BAE Systems signed Framework Agreement for cooperation on repair, spare parts and production of new L119 light guns.

In addition, the Minister for Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin, and Charles Woodburn signed Agreement on Cooperation to localise production of BAE Systems weapons in Ukraine.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Roman Mashovets, Deputy Minister of Defence, Volodymyr Havrylov, and Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries, Serhiy Boiiev.

As the Minister of Defence of Ukraine noted, the Framework Agreement consolidates the intentions and outlines the steps of cooperation in supply, repair and maintenance of artillery systems and armoured vehicles to meet the urgent needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The United Kingdom is one of the biggest support contributors for Ukraine. The opening of the representative office of the world-famous British company once again confirmed the fact of steadfast Ukraine–United Kingdom partnership. Partnership with BAE Systems, i.e. cooperation with enterprises of the Ukrainian national defence sector will allow to significantly increase efficiency and to reduce the time for the supply and repair of NATO-type weapons and equipment for the Defence Forces of Ukraine," said Oleksii Reznikov.

It is worth mentioning that BAE Systems is one of the world's largest companies developing and producing artillery systems and armoured vehicles of various types, which have already proved to be successful in combat operations during the repelling the large-scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine.
