On the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine perished in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed over the Gold Star Orders to the members of the families of the warriors who were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
The ceremony took place in the White Hall of Heroes of Ukraine in the Mariyinsky Palace.
"Since 2014, our state has been resisting Russia's aggression. Since February 24, our state has been fighting full-scale Russian terror against Ukraine. Thousands of heroic Ukrainians gave their lives to prevent the enemy from destroying our people, our freedom, our past, present and future," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized that Ukraine will remember its defenders, and their heroism will forever remain in the history of our nation and state.
"We will do everything to make the story of each warrior known to all Ukrainians, all Europeans and everyone in the world. People must appreciate what our defenders have done and are doing, it must be remembered and respected," he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that today he is handing over the Gold Star Orders to the families of seven Heroes of Ukraine who defended our country from the enemy.
"They stayed in the battle forever. But they live in the memory of their relatives, their Ukraine, and will definitely live in our history - the history of the victory of our state, which will definitely come," the President is convinced.
The participants of the ceremony honored the memory of those who gave their lives for Ukraine with a moment of silence.
The ceremony was also attended by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhny, Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov, Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi, Head of the State Border Service Serhiy Deineko, Acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk.
