1. Over the last week, the number of the ceasefire violations has slightly decreased. But the situation is still tense both on Donetsk and Luhansk directions. The Russian occupation troops continued to shell the JFO positions with 120 mm and 82 mm mortars, which should be withdrawn from the frontline according to the Minsk agreements. The enemy also used antitank missiles, grenade launchers, small arms and other infantry weapons. Unfortunately, Joint Forces sustained combat casualties.

Over the past week, from 24 February to 01 March, Ukrainian defenders positions fell under provocative fire by the Russian occupation troops for 64 times. Every single day, the Russian occupation troops used forbidden heavy armament. Thus:

On February 24, 25 and 26, occupation troops used 120mm and 82mm mortars against the JFO positions near Orihove, Zolote-4, Mariinka, Novotoshkivske, Shumy, Talakivka, Katerynivka and Krasnohirivka settlements.

One more time, on February 27in a flagrant violation of the Minsk agreements, the enemy fired more than 30 120 mm mines against positions of Ukrainian defenders near Novotoshkivske and Orihove settlements.

Over the course of February 28 and 29Russian occupation troops fired almost 60 120mm and 82 mm mines against positions of our forces. Apart from that, on February 29, the enemy has also used antitank missile systems to strike the checkpoint near Mariinka. According to the decision of the JFO Commander, the work of the checkpoint was temporarily suspended.

On March 01, the enemy continued to use 82mm and 120mm mortars which are forbidden by the Minsk agreements.

Our brave warriors opened adequate fire in response to suppress enemy’s activity.

Unfortunately, as the result of the Russian armed aggression, 3 servicemen were KIA.

Ministry of Defense of Ukraine expresses sincerest condolences to families and loved ones of the deceased defenders!

Moreover, 13 Ukrainian servicemen were WIA. They were all transferred to military-medical facilities and provided with necessary medical support.

2. And now to the information from the Defense Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

In order to gather information regarding positions of the JFO, the enemy has been actively using reconnaissance units which are acting under the fire support, including mortars and artillery systems which are forbidden by the Minsk agreements. In such a way, the enemy enhances interoperability of reconnaissance and artillery units to locate and strike the JFO positions.

Apart from that, Command of the Russian occupation troops has renewed a practice of shelling of the JFO from a positions which are located in a residential areas of temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions, in such a way putting a life  of civilian population under a threat as well as leading to further dissatisfaction of local population.

Moreover, occupation authorities, under a cover by the so called “mobilization needs” in a forced manner confiscate property of the civilian population to accommodate “security personnel”. In February, Russian mercenaries who were deployed as a part of 1 Army Corp have occupied empty houses, as well as damaged property of the locals. There were no response from the occupation authorities on such violations.

What is more, Russian occupation command has strengthened its efforts to destabilize situation on the territories of the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions by increasing the number of cease fire violations and provocations for a response fire, as well as demonstrative relocation of armament and military equipment from the rear to the frontline positions. At the same time, in order to discredit the Joint Forces, Russian propagandist media disseminate fake information regarding the ceasefire violations by the JFO.

This is all information for now!

Glory to Ukraine!
