This was stated by the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the United States Embassy in Ukraine Joseph Pennington during the ceremony in Odessa.

— Starobilsk and Sloviansk boats are only a small part of the US security assistance that has been provided to Ukraine since 2014. As part of our support for Ukraine, I am also pleased to announce that, in addition to these two Island-class patrol boats we are transferring today, the United States will provide three additional boats of the same class. These are US Coast Guard boats that will further enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy. The United States will continue to provide security assistance to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, not only by providing training and equipment, but also by engaging defense reform advisers to develop the Armed Forces. The United States, as Ukraine’s strategic partner, are proud to provide equipment and technology as well as advisory assistance to support Ukraine in protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity and in further NATO aspirations. We will stand close to Ukraine at every step of the way.
