On October 29, the solemn opening ceremony of the multinational command and staff exercise “Maple Arch — 2019” was held in Zhytomyr on the basis of the 199th Training Center of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The exercise is supported by the Armed Forces of Canada in concert with military personnel of the Armed Forces of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine, with the participation of international partners from nine countries: Georgia, Bulgaria, Canada, Lithuania, Poland, Northern Macedonia, Romania and Montenegro.
Service personnel of the 95th separate air assault brigade and officers of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who carry out tasks within the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade will represent Ukraine.
— In 2011, the Armed Forces of Ukraine joined the participants of this exercise, gained interesting and useful experience annually, became stronger, a little better, because the joint work of many nations allows to know each other better, builds and strengthens trust, becomes the basis of peace and security, — said Commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Yevhen Moisiuk during the opening ceremony of the multinational command and staff training.
One of the heads of this year exercise Colonel Chip Medic noted that the structure of the exercise is focused on planning of peacekeeping operations.
“The Ukrainian military, who take part in the Maple Arch exercises every year has traditionally demonstrated that they are able to adapt processes and absorb the details of the activities required to plan a peace and security operation,” stressed colonel Chip Medic.
