A medal parade in honor of military engineers from Canada took place in Khmelnytskyi region

For the last four years, the Canadian Engineering Training Group from the Operation UNIFIER has been working with the Mine Action and Training Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, located in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi region.

Representatives of the Armed Forces of Canada who are a part of a training mission were awarded with special medals “For Participation in Operation UNIFIER”.

The event was attended by the commander of the Joint Task Force of the Operation UNIFIER, Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Cotte and Representative of the Combat Service Support Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Major General Yurii Lukashyk and city mayor Mykhailo Simashkevych.

— Today, we award Canadian servicemen with a medal for their mission service. At the same time, we celebrate cooperation and a history of solidarity not only between specialists in this field, but also cooperation between our countries. The military is ready to return to their homes, but cooperation will remain as close as ever. The arrival of the Canadian military engineer instructors in the new rotation will mark the next new flow of energy and ideas for our further cooperation, — said Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Cotte.

Major General Yurii Lukashyk expressed his gratitude to Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Cotte and his team for understanding, competence and professional approach to the process of training experts in countering IEDs and thanked the Government, the Armed Forces, and all Canadian people for their support which we have been receiving for the last four years in our strive for peace, democracy and civilized development of Ukraine..

At the end of the event, Yurii Lukashik provided Canadian servicemen with CHOD award “For merits before the Armed Forces of Ukraine”.
