US and Ukrainian Special Operation Forces: synergy of mission and standards in the fight against a common enemy

On September 16, Chief of General Staff — Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Ruslan Khomchak held a meeting with the US Special Operations Forces Commander General Richard Clark.

— The Armed Forces of Ukraine are grateful for the invaluable assistance of the US SOF Command in providing advisory and practical assistance in the development of the Ukrainian SOF and the systematic support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in countering armed and hybrid aggression by the Russian Federation. It is important that the transformation process towards achieving the NATO eligibility criteria is irreversible,- stressed Lieutenant General Ruslan Khomchak.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Igor Luniov and the Commander of the Special Operation Forces of the US European Command, Major General Kirk Smith, the parties discussed the current status and process of development and training of the Ukrainian SOF within the implementation of NATO standards and the use of the best SOF experience.

US SOF Commander General Richard Clark noted the high level of preparedness of the Ukrainian Special Forces, significant positive changes in the development of the Ukrainian SOF Command Headquarters and the achievement of interoperability of individual Ukrainian SOF units with NATO partners. He also assured in continued SOF development support by the American colleagues.
