Multinational Exercises Rapid Trident-2019: more than 3600 troops and 600 equipment items

A two-week international exercises Rapid Trident-2019 involving over 3,600 troops and 600 equipment items will be launched on September 13 at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center. In addition to the Ukrainian and US representatives, Defense Agencies from the Great Britain, Canada, Georgia, Lithuania, Turkey, Moldova, Bulgaria, Poland and Romania have sent their approval to participate in Rapid Trident-2019.

Also, servicemen of the multinational unit LITPOLUKRBRIG will attend Rapid Trident-2019.

The largest military contingent will be deployed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The combat core will be composed of military personnel of the 10th Separate Mountain-Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Land Forces. This military unit was established during the fighting in the East of Ukraine. All servicemen and women who are to participate in military maneuvers have real combat experience. Representatives of the National Guard of Ukraine and other security and defense agencies will also take part in Rapid Trident-2019.

US Delta Company will take part as well. Therefore, the US Army will be directly involved in a multinational training event led by Ukrainian command.

According to the scenario, Ukrainian soldiers and military units of the partner states will learn to counteract hybrid threats and challenges. During the exercise, military personnel will work through a number of combat, logistical and humanitarian tasks. Another interesting aspect of this year’s exercises is the assessment of certain units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the Review and Feedback Program of the NATO Operational Capabilities Concept.

The exercises, which aim is to work out joint actions within the coalition peacekeeping force, will last until September 28.

It should be noted that international military exercises are taking place within the framework of the Partnership for Peace international military cooperation program. Most of the exercises which took place since 1994 have been held at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center.
