Monday, July 18. ODESA — Odesa Officers’ House hosted an official opening ceremony of the US-Ukrainian exercise — Sea Breeze 2016.
The exercise is co-chaired by Capt. 1st Rank Richard Dromerhauser from the US party and Capt. 1st Rank Oleksiy Doskato from the Ukrainian party.
“This year 16 countries participate in the exercise. It’s very important for the Ukrainian Navy to participate in it,” Rear Admiral Andriy Tarasov, First Deputy Navy Commander, stressed, “We have been conducting this exercise since 1997 and we see it is one of the most effective international partnership event as it permits to train our servicemen and units, work out interoperability, cooperation, share experience and establish friendship.”
About 4,000 military from Ukraine, the USA, Bulgaria, the UK, Greece, Georgia, Italy, Spain, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Sweden, and Finland will join the exercise. More than 25 ships, boats and vessels, about 20 aircrafts and helicopters, more than 140 vehicles will be involved in the upcoming evolutions.
Sea Breeze 2016 will be held on July 18-30.
