Col. Gen. Stepan Poltorak: Anticorruption efforts are one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defence

Wednesday, June 17. KYIV – On June 16, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Col. Gen. Stepan Poltorak held talks with State Secretary of Norwegian Ministry of Defence Mr. Oystein Bo.

“Considering the ongoing situation in the east of Ukraine, Norway condemns the Russian Federation actions and supports the implemented sanctions,” Mr. Oystein Bo stressed.

He also pledged comprehensive support for Ukraine from the Norwegian Government.

The parties discussed the ways of corruption risks reduction in the ministry of defence.

“Anticorruption efforts are one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defence. We realize we need to solve the corruption problem today in order to achieve the efficient reforms,” Col. Gen. Stepan Poltorak stressed.

Defence Minister thanked the Norwegian Government for support and stressed that sometimes the political assistance of friendly nation was more powerful than weapon.

The parties signed the Protocol on development and realization of the project of corruption risks reduction within the personnel management system.

“We praise the opportunity of cooperation with Norway and hope the signed document will ensure new prospects of the bilateral cooperation,” Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine – Head of Administration Mr. Petro Mekhed remarked.
