Lieutenant-General Viktor Bokiy

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Mr. Bokiy was born in 1971 in Chisinau, Moldova.

He is a 1992 graduate of Omsk Higher Military Command School. He started his commissioned military career as a Commander of a Motorized Infantry Company, and continued his service as a Commander of a Mechanized Platoon, Commander of a Mechanized Company, Chief of Staff — Deputy Commander of the Mechanized Battalion and Commander of the Mechanized Battalion.

In 2001, he received a military education of operational and tactical level at the National Defence Academy of Ukraine.

He then served as Chief of Staff — First Deputy Commander of the 97th Separate Mechanized brigade, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 13th Army Corps of the Western Operational Command, Chief of Staff — First Deputy Commander of the 6th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the International Peacekeeping Mission in the Republic of Iraq, Commander of the 16th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Southern Operational Command, Chief of the 169th Training Centre of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Inspection of Troops and Military Discipline of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2009, after graduating with honours from the Faculty of Operational and Strategic Level of the National Defence Academy of Ukraine, Mr. Bokiy has been appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of Logistics for Technical Support — Chief of Department of Technical Support for Logistics of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

His further service included positions of Chief of the 169th Training Centre of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2011-2012), Chief of Staff — First Deputy Commander of the 13th Army Corps of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2012-2014) and Chief of Operations — Deputy Chief of Staff of the Northern Operational Command (2014-2015). Later Mr. Bokiy served as Chief of the Main Operations Department — Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2015-2017), Chief of the Main Training Department — Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2017-2019), Chief of the Main Operations Department — Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2019-2020).

Mr. Bokiy holds numerous rewards, including the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, 3rd grade, personal firearms and medals.
