Volodymyr Zamana

Colonel-General Volodymyr Zamana was born on December 3, 1959 in the Ombysh village, Borznyansky Rayon, Chernygiv Oblast.

In 1982, he graduated from the Kharkiv Guards Higher Tank Command School. Volodymyr Zamana started his officers carrier as a Commanding Officer of a Tank Platoon in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany.

From 1985 through 1990, he was a Company Commanding Officer, Executive Officer of a Tank Battalion, and Tank Battalion Commander in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany and the Turkestan Military Command.

In 1993, Volodymyr Zamana graduated from the Marshal Rodion Malinovsky Military Armored Forces Academy. Then he was appointed a Chief of Staff Deputy Commander of a Tank Regiment in the Odesa Military Command.

From 1994 through 2003, he held position of Tank Regiment Commander, Commander of a Detached Tank Brigade, Chief of the Training Center of the Odesa Military Command and the Northern Operations Command.

In 2004, Volodymyr Zamana graduated from the Operational and Strategic Faculty of the National Defense Academy of Ukraine.

From 2004 through 2005, he was a Deputy Commander of the 8th Army Corps of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2005 2007, he took position of the Commander of the 6th Army Corps of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From 2007 through 2009, Volodymyr Zamana worked as Chief of the Territorial Administration of the Western Operations Command of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2009 2010, he was a Deputy Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for Combat Training Chief of Main Directorate for Combat Training, and from 2010 through 2011 he took position of the Chief of Staff First Deputy Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From August 2011 through February 2012, Volodymyr Zamana was promoted to the position of First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He was appointed as Chief of the General Staff Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Decree of the President of Ukraine 128/2012 of February 18, 2012.

Volodymyr Zamana is decorated with the Order of Merit 3rd class, the Ukrainian Presidents Decoration Medal For Irreproachable Service, the Decorations of Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Valor and Honor and Decoration of Honor.

Married, has a son and two daughters.
