On September 4, during the Ukrainian-Romanian Riveraine 2019 exercises, an annual cross-border meeting of the commanders of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Naval Forces of Romania took place. The purpose of the event was to discuss relevant issues of the regional security, development of cooperation in the Black Sea region, identification of priority areas of bilateral military cooperation. The delegations were headed by the Commander of the Ukrainian Naval Forces Admiral Ihor Voronchenko and the Chief of the General Staff of the Naval Forces of Romania Admiral Alexandru Mirshu.
Within the implementation of common missions aimed at addressing current security challenges, maintaining and developing military cooperation between the naval forces of NATO Partner States is of great importance. During the meeting, the parties have discussed a number of important issues regarding the current regional security system, participation in international exercises, maintaining and developing of military cooperation, internships of Ukrainian cadets on the ships of the Romanian Naval Forces and further implementation experience exchange events.
