In Ankara, while communicating with media representatives, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky offered to pay tribute to the memory of four Ukrainian soldiers killed on August 6 in Donbas as a result of the shelling by pro-Russian militants.

“I think you won’t mind. Yesterday, four our men, young people — all younger than me, did not come back alive ... They were killed. I think it would be fair if we honor the memory of the deceased with a moment of silence,” the Head of State said.

He reminded that due to those events, significant time had been devoted today to the negotiations on the war in Donbas and the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The representatives of the delegations of the two countries and journalists present in the hall accepted the proposal of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and paid tribute to the memory of the Ukrainian military with a moment of silence.

“Thank you. I think it is very important that everyone understands that the whole world — both Turkey and every other country — remembers our fighters. This is very important for their parents, for their children,” he said.

In turn, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed condolences over the loss.

“It is with sadness that yesterday we heard that four Ukrainian soldiers were killed despite the ceasefire regime. And once again, in the presence of the President of Ukraine, I express my condolences to the Ukrainian people,” he said.
