Wednesday, February 4. KYIV — The appropriate inter-governmental agreement was ratified by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The decision was taken by 290 deputies.
The draft law on ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Lithuania, Government of Poland and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on establishment of a joint military unit was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine — Head of Administration Petro Mekhed.
He stated the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, Government of the Republic of Poland and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on establishment of a joint military unit was concluded on September 19, 2014 in Warsaw and should be ratified by Verkhovna Rada. It comes into force in 30 days after a depository receives the last written notification on completing all inter-state procedures necessary for the Agreement to be enforced.
According to Petro Mekhed, 545 Ukrainian servicemen will joint the brigade. The brigade command will be deployed in Lublin, Poland. The units allocated for this brigade will stay at their permanent bases.
Joint exercise of Ukrainian, Polish and Lithuanian servicemen will be launched H1 2015. The brigade was scheduled be formed in 2016 but because of Donbas situation its formation was accelerated.
